Biografie

Veronica Scopelliti (January 25, 1982), better known by her stage name Noemi, is an Italian singer-songwriter who jumped to fame after competing on the reality show X Factor in 2009. Born in Rome to two amateur musicians, she started studying piano at the age of 7 and picked up the guitar when she was 11. After graduating from Roma Tre University in 2005 and working briefly as a filmmaker, Noemi decided to fully devote herself to music. In 2007, she participated in a contest to debut as a newcomer at the 2008 Sanremo Music Festival. Despite being one of the twelve finalists, she didn’t make the cut. Her big breakthrough moment arrived in 2009 when she took part in the singing competition X Factor, finishing in fifth place. Though brief, her stint on the show exposed her to a wider audience and led to a record deal with Sony Music, who released her debut single “Briciole” in April of that year. The single reached Number 2 on the Italian charts and was followed by an eponymous EP that was certified gold after selling over 50,000 copies. That same year, Noemi scored her first Number 1 hit with “L’Amore Si Odia,” included in her studio debut, Sulla Mia Pelle. Subsequently, Noemi remained in the Italian Top 10 with the albums RossoNoemi (2011), Made in London (2014), and Cuore d’Artista (2016). Her fifth full-length La Luna (2018) reached Number 13 and Metamorfosi (2021) went to Number 17. In 2021, Noemi collaborated with Carl Brave on the track “Makumba,” which peaked at Number 64 on FIMI’s singles chart.
