Biografie

English singer-songwriter Barnaby George Courtney, better known as Barns Courtney, rose to fame in 2015 with a handful of singles that blended hard stomping indie rock with anthemic pop melodies. Born on November 17, 1990, in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, he moved to Seattle, Washington, with his family when he was just 4 years old. Upon his return to the UK at the age of 15, he formed the rock bands SleeperCell and Dive Bella Dive, which managed to secure a deal with Island Records and got a chance to perform at Download Festival in 2012. After recording a solo album for the label that would be eventually shelved, Barns Courtney spent the next few years sleeping on friends' sofas and working at PC World. In 2015, he made his official debut as a solo artist with the viral single "Glitter & Gold," followed later that year by "Fire," which gained considerable traction thanks to a feature on the soundtrack of the Bradley Cooper film, Burnt. The single reached Number 3 on the US Adult Alternative charts and was included in his critically acclaimed studio debut, The Attractions of Youth (2017). That year, he also issued an EP titled The Dull Drums. In 2018, Barns Courtney began teasing his sophomore effort with the single "99," which cracked the Top 10 of Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart in the United States. 404, his second album, finally appeared in 2019 and was promoted by subsequent singles such as "Good Thing," "You and I," and "Hollow." Released in 2022, his single "Supernatural" went to Number 38 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart.
