With a sound that thunders with gothic, metal angst whilst escalating into symphonic, orchestral grandeur, Within Temptation have become one of Holland's most successful musical exports of all time. Led by the soaring vocals of Sharon den Adel and the driving guitar of Robert Westerholt, the ambition of debut album 'Enter' (1997) quickly gained popularity in their home country before second album 'Mother Earth' (2000), inspired by the film 'Braveheart', helped them to breakthrough across Europe.

Backed by a full orchestra and 80-voice choir, third album 'The Silent Force' (2004) introduced the band to new audiences in Japan, Australia and the UK and prompted a deal with legendary American metal label Roadrunner in 2006. Tours across the US with Lacuna Coil followed before 'The Heart of Everything' (2007) produced the band's first American charting single 'What Have You Done' and acoustic album 'An Acoustic Night at the Theatre' (2009) went on to sell 5.4 million copies. They followed this success with 'The Unforgiving' in 2011, 'Hydra' in 2014 and, after a spell of solo material from den Adel, 'Resist' in 2019.
