Susan Tedeschi is an icon of modern-day blues music, celebrated not only for her string of solo albums, but also as the co-leader of the Grammy-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 9, 1970, she began singing as a child and served as an understudy in a Broadway musical at six years old. She gravitated toward blues and gospel music during her teenage years, building a foundation for the rootsy sound she would later explore as a songwriter. After forming the Susan Tedeschi Band in 1993, she made her studio debut with 1995's Better Days and earned national attention with her 1995 follow-up, Just Won't Burn, which included her popular version of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery." The album peaked at Number 2 on the Top Blues Albums chart and earned Susan Tedeschi a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. She continued releasing albums at a prolific rate during the decade that followed. 2002's Wait For Me and 2008's Back To The River both topped the blues charts and received Grammy nominations, but they paled in comparison to the accolades she received as a member of Tedeschi Trucks Band. Formed in 2010 by Susan Tedeschi and her husband, Derek Trucks, Tedeschi Trucks Band introduced its sound in 2011 with the Grammy-winning Revelator. The album charted at Number 12 on the Billboard 200 and Number 1 on the Top Blues Albums chart. The band's three follow-up releases — 2013's Made Up Mind, 2016's Let Me Get By, and 2019's Signs — all fared similarly well, cracking the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 while also topping the American blues charts.
