Biography

Grammy-nominated southern rapper Jack Harlow (born on March 13th, 1988) hails from Louisville, Kentucky, and is the co-founder of indie
label/music collective Private Garden. He started rapping when he was 12 and with a friend took to recording on a DIY set-up comprising a laptop and a Guitar Hero
mic. During high school, he made inroads into the local underground
hip-hop scene and began performing and sharing songs online. 2015 saw him
release a party-themed debut EP, Handsome Harlow, and in 2016 he
followed it with the mixtape 18. It was with the next year's mixtape, Gazebo, and a packed regional touring schedule, however, that the labels began to
really pay attention. He penned a deal with DJ Drama's Generation Now imprint
of Atlantic Records and his next mixtape, 2018's Loose, with guest vocals
from CyHi the Prynce, K Camp, 2forwOyNE, and Taylor, was put out through the
label.
He got a huge boost from social media when his 2020 single “Whats
Poppin”
became a sensation on TikTok – also receiving a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards – and an official remix of the track was
a top 5 hit. He ended the year with the release of his debut album,
That’s
What They All Say
, which climbed to number 5 in the U.S. as well as hitting the top
40 in Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. In
2021, he cranked things up a gear via a noteworthy collaboration with Lil Nas X. "Industry Baby" shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving him his first number one hit. Another collaborative single followed that year, "SUVs (Black on Black)" with Pooh Shiesty, and he kept up the momentum on 2022 single, "Nail Tech", which climbed to number 18 on the Hot 100. That same year, he dropped into a track by Kanye West, "Louie Bags" from the star's eleventh studio album, Donda 2.
