Could Heaven Ever Be Like This out now on Tru Thoughts!
Guitarist, songwriter and producer Lance Ferguson is not just one of the key figures in Australian Soul music but one of its most versatile and visionary musical minds, earning him Seven ARIA Award nominations and five APRA Music Award nominations.
Across 45 full-length albums and more than 100 singles with The Bamboos, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, Lanu, Rare Groove Spectrum, Menagerie, Machines Always Win and The Ferguson Rogers Process he has tirelessly explored Funk, Jazz, Soul, Beats, Disco and Electronica with an effortless sense of class, style and groove.
He has recorded for an array of respected labels, including Atlantic, Universal, Warner, BMG, Sony, Tru Thoughts, Ubiquity, Freestyle, Nettwerk and his own imprint Pacific Theatre.
Across his Rare Groove Spectrum series, he delves into a deep crate of Soul, Jazz, Latin and Funk obscurities (as well as the odd reinterpretation of modern-day Pop), re-recording them with a live band to breathe new life into under-appreciated classics.
Ferguson’s distinctive guitar riff features on “This Girl” by Kungs Vs Cookin on 3 Burners (which he also co-wrote), which was a global smash hit in 2016 and has been featured in countless commercials, films and TV shows.
2017’s 'Raw Material’ was the first album released under his own name and in 2025 he released ‘Le ocean de toi’, a new score to a re-discovered ‘80s French film.
In 2024 he reunited with Tim Rogers as The Ferguson Rogers Process with the ‘Style And Or Substance’ album.
