Archive, a British neo-progressive, trip hop and electronic music band from London, England, was formed in 1994 by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths, the only permanent members of this variable line-up. Their first album, Londinium, was released in 1996. It quickly became a reference in the trip hop and electronica spheres. Three years later, Take My Head, a second opus more symphonic and melodic than the previous one, enabled Archive to attract a wider audience. Between 2000 and 2004, the band worked with Irish singer Craig Walker, recording three studio albums with him: You All Look the Same to Me (2002), which features their best-known track, "Again", and explores more progressive avenues, Noise (2004), and Michel Vaillant (2003), the soundtrack to the film of the same name. Subsequent releases follow at a steady pace: between Lights in 2006 and The False Foundation in 2016, five more albums are released in ten years. Controlling Crowds and Controlling Crowds Part IV (2009) were particularly popular in France, where Archive recorded the album live at La Géode (2010). In 2012, With Us until You're Dead presents itself as a more personal album than its predecessors. Two years later, Archive accompanied Axiom with a medium-length film, then recorded Restriction (2015), before releasing The False Foundation in 2016. In 2022, after a six-year absence from the recording scene, Archive made a comeback with the project Call to Arms and Angels.
