Danish heavy metal rockers Volbeat built on success in their homeland in the early 2000s to reach international acclaim with successful tours and chart-topping singles and albums in the US. Their sixth studio release 'Seal the Deal & Let's Boogie' (2016) topped Billboard's Hard Rock Albums Chart, went to number two on the Top Rock Albums Chart, reached number four on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 16 in the UK. Singles from the album, 'The Devil's Bleeding Crown' and 'Black Rose' featuring Danko Jones, went to number one on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs Chart.

Former Dominus singer-songwriter and guitarist Michael Poulsen formed the band in Copenhagen in 2001 with drummer Jon Larsen, guitarist Franz Gottschalk and bassist Anders Kjolholm. There have been changes since and the current lineup features Poulsen and Larsen plus guitarist Rob Caggiano and bassist Kaspar Boye. Inspired by classic rock stars such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry as well as heavy metal bands such as Metallica and Iron Maiden, they soon proved popular. Their 2005 debut album 'The Strength/The Sound/The Songs' was a hit in Denmark and surrounding countries and they played major festivals and toured across Europe.

'Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil' (2007) and 'Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood' (2008) sold well and two albums released in 2013 did well in the US with 'Beyond Hell/Above Heaven' reaching number seven and 'Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies' topping the Hard Rock Chart. Their other number one hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs Chart were 'Still Counting' (2012), 'The Hangman's Body Count' (2013), 'Lola Montez' (2013) and 'Heaven Nor Hell' (2013) with 'Fallen' (2011) at number eleven, 'A Warrior's Call' (2012) number two, 'Dead But Rising' (2014) number three, 'Doc Holiday' (2014) number nine and 'Seal the Deal' number three. In 2016 they teased their sixth album 'Seal the Deal', which was released later in the year, preceded by the singles 'The Devil's Bleeding Crown' and 'For Evigt'.

2019 saw the release of a 40-second song called `Parasite', followed by `Leviathan' which was to be the lead single of their seventh studio album 'Rewind, Replay, Rebound'. Their 2019 schedule was to include a North American tour as part of Slipknot's Knotfest Roadshow, alongside other supporting acts Gojira and Behemoth.
