Sleeping at Last is an alternative-rock project spearheaded by Ryan O'Neal. Launched in 1999 in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton, Illinois, Sleeping at Last was originally formed as a three-piece band, with bass guitarist Dan Perdue and drummer Chad O'Neal joining O'Neal. The group's independently-released debut, Capture, arrived in 2000 and earned attention for hometown hero Billy Corgan, best known for his work with The Smashing Pumpkins. With Corgan serving as the band's mentor and champion, Sleeping at Last signed with Interscope Records and released the major-label album Ghost in 2003. By 2006's Keep No Score, however, the band had returned to its independent status. O'Neal left the band two years later, and Sleeping at Last released 2009's Storyboards as a duo. Perdue left the lineup in 2011, turning the group into a one-man band with O'Neal as its only member. Sleeping at Last's "Turning Page" appeared on the popular soundtrack of the film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 later that year, and O'Neal prolonged the band's momentum with a prolific streak of EPs, singles, and cover songs. His version of Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" was used in the eleventh season of the TV show Grey's Anatomy in 2015, and a new version of "Turning Page" became a viral hit in early 2022.
