A Day to Remember manage to unite the worlds of punk and metal and have established themselves as a perennial favorite in the US hard rock scene since their formation in 2003. Frontman Jeremy McKinnon, who was not blessed with much success at school, soon turned his attention to music. Inspired by the DIY rock scene in his hometown of Ocala in northern Florida, he played in the ska band All for Nothing before founding A Day to Remember together with guitarist Tom Denney. With Neil Westfall on guitar, Joshua Woodard on bass and Bobby Scruggs on drums, they toured tirelessly through bars and basement clubs and released two self-published EPs before recording their debut album And Their Name Was Treason in 2005. Their fame slowly grows and their song "You Should Have Killed Me When You Had the Chance" becomes an early proto-anthem that perfectly captures the essence of the band. Their big breakthrough came in 2009 when their third album Homesick reached number 21 in the US charts and sold over 500,000 copies. Alex Schelnutt takes over on drums and guitarist Kevin Skaff replaces Tom Denney, who no longer tours but continues to record with the band. The follow-up What Separates Me from You is an even bigger success, reaching number 11 in 2010. The band's hybrid sound of banging hardcore breakdowns, catchy hooks and snarling purges made them accessible enough for radio productions and harmonically hard enough for the metal audience. After a legal battle with their label Victory Records, they make a fresh start by forming their own company ADTR and moving to Colorado, where they record Common Courtesy (2014). They also founded Self Help Fest before confirming their status as a worldwide arena act when they reached number two in the US charts with their sixth studio album Bad Vibrations in 2016. in 2019, they released their first single on the new label Fueled By Ramen, 'Resentment', followed by the track 'Mindreader' in 2020. Their seventh studio album You're Welcome saw the light of day in 2021. After a short creative break, the band returned in January 2025 with the album Big Ole Album, Vol. 1. The album reaches number 44 in Germany.
