Biography

Originating from Kentucky, U.S.A, the American alternative rock band Cage the Elephant is fronted by brothers Matt (vocalist) and Brad Schultz (guitarist). Following their debut album, which showcased rap and Britpop influences and included the hit "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" (2008), the band moved to London, where they found greater popularity. Embraced by the UK and gaining traction in the US, the quintet released their second album, Thank You, Happy Birthday (2011). Cage the Elephant has frequently topped the alternative and rock charts with songs like "In One Ear" (2008), "Back Against the Wall" (2009), and "Shake Me Down" (2010). In 2013, "Come a Little Closer" also topped the charts, heralding their third album, Melophobia, which reached number 15 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit "Cigarette Dreams." The band then embarked on extensive tours, opening for Muse and The Black Keys. The Black Keys' singer, Dan Auerbach, produced their next album, Tell Me I'm Pretty (2015), which peaked at number 26 in the US, won a Grammy Award, and included popular singles "Mess Around," "Trouble," and "Cold Cold Cold." A tour and a live album, Unpeeled (2017), came before the 2019 release of Social Cues, produced by John Hill, which won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. This album featured chart-topping singles "Ready to Let Go," "Social Cues," "Black Madonna," and "Skin and Bones."  In 2024, they returned with Neon Pill, seeing lead single, "Neon Pill," reached Number 1 on the alternative charts.
