Chicago is a rock band from the USA that was founded in 1967. The Chicago musicians experienced their heyday from the 1970s to the mid-1980s. in 1969, the band released their debut album Chicago Transit Authority. Chicago made it to number 17 in the US charts and number 9 in the UK. The single "I'm a Man" becomes a minor hit. With their second album Chicago II in 1970, the rockers made their international breakthrough. In the USA (No. 4) and Great Britain (No. 6), it reached the Top 10. In Germany, the album reached No. 20. Chicago scored another hit with the song "25 or 6 to 4". in 1972, the band achieved their first number 1 in the US album charts with Chicago V. The band managed to do the same with all their other albums until 1975. Songs such as "Saturday In the Park" (1972), "Just You 'n' Me" (1973), "Call on Me" (1974) and "Old Days" (1975) became hits. With the album Chicago X (1976), the rockers change their musical style. The band around singer Peter Cetera moved more in the direction of ballads. The best example: the hit single "If You Leave Me Now", which stormed into the top 10 worldwide in 1976 and became a number 1 hit in the USA and Great Britain. Chicago wins a Grammy for the song in the category Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Duo, Group Or Chorus. in 1977, "Baby, What a Big Surprise" was another international hit. After further albums, Chicago celebrated worldwide success with the power ballad "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" in 1982, which was also the high point of the band's history. chicago 17, the last album with singer Peter Cetera, was released in 1984. The album is a huge success and the song "You're the Inspiration" is another hit. Chicago continue to release albums to this day, most recently the album Chicago: VI Decades Live (This is What We Do) in 2018. The band can no longer match the earlier successes with singer Peter Cetera.
