Biography

With a full-bodied blues voice and a handle on the shifting sands of contemporary pop, Australian singer and songwriter Conrad Sewell (born on March 31, 1988 in Brisbane, Queensland) is famed primarily for his 2015 Australian chart-topper "Start Again" and his contribution to Kygo's 2014 single "Firestone." Hailing from a musical family that includes his hitmaker sister Grace 鈥 with the pair becoming the first Australian-born siblings in the history of the charts to reach Number one as separate acts in 2015 鈥 his musical ambitions began to make themselves known when he was just eight years old. He started sending out demos before joining rock band Sons of Midnight with whom he released a debut single, "The Fire," in 2012, and a debut album in 2013 before disbanding. A gig co-writing and singing vocals on Kygo's 2014 single "Firestone" landed him a Top five hit across Europe and paved the way for his own debut single the following year. "Hold Me Up" went to Number 39 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was featured on Conrad Sewell's debut EP, All I Know. A handful of high-profile support slots followed that year, with Conrad Sewell joining Ed Sheeran on 13 dates in Australia, as well as taking on gigs supporting Jess Glynne and Maroon 5. Rounding off an already triumphant year, in November 2015 he won Song of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 for "Start Again." He signed to Sony Music in 2018 and released the Ghosts & Heartaches EP, lined up just ahead of his debut full-length, Life; the result of four years spent songwriting in Los Angeles. The album featured collaborations with Grammy-nominated artists Jamie HartmanBusbee, and Stuart Crichton. He performed the Australian national anthem at the AFL Grand Final that same year while the LP ascended to the top of the ARIA Charts, winning Highest Selling Album at the Queensland Music Awards of 2020. Conrad Sewell was featured on ARTY's "Kingdom" single in 2020.
