Dave Gahan, born David Callcott, is an English vocalist, songwriter and musician best known as the lead singer of the synth-pop group Depeche Mode. He turned to music after a troubled youth that involved clashes with the law and joined what became Depeche Mode in 1980. They have released many hit singles and albums since then with chart success in the US and the UK with albums 'Playing the Angel' (2005), 'Sounds of the Universe' (2009), 'Delta Machine' (2013) and 'Spirit' (2017). They were also nominated for five Grammy Awards.

Gahan's first solo release, 'Paper Monsters' (2003), peaked at number four on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart and the track 'Dirty Sticky Floors' went to number three on Billboard's Dance Club Songs Chart. His 2007 album 'Hourglass' went to number one on the Heatseekers and Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts and the track 'Kingdom' topped the Dance Club Songs Chart. In 2012 he joined the electronic duo Soulsavers on the album 'The Light and the Dead See' and again in 2015 on 'Angels & Ghosts', which hit number two on the Heatseekers Chart, number 23 on the Alternative Albums Chart and number 31 on the Top Rock Albums Chart. Depeche Mode's 2018 schedule included appearances in Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires and Katowice, Poland with a 2019 show in Hamburg.
