Biography

Best known for platinum-selling singles like "It's Not Over" and "Home," the hard rock band Daughtry was formed by former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry in 2006, following his fourth place finish on Idol's fifth season. Based in McLeansville, North Carolina, the group debuted with "It's Not Over," which reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 1 on Adult Pop Airplay. The follow-up single, "Home," also topped the Adult Pop Airplay chart. Both singles appeared on the band's self-titled debut album, Daughtry, which reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and went six-times platinum. A follow-up effort, Leave This Town, arrived in 2009 and also hit Number 1 in America. Break the Spell (2011), Baptized (2013), and Cage to Rattle (2018) all reached the Top 10, too. Cage to Rattle marked the end of Daughtry's time on a major label's roster, however, and the band returned in 2021 with an independent release titled Dearly Beloved. A cover of the Journey classic "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" (featuring guest vocals from Lzzy Hale of Halestorm) brought the band back to the Billboard charts in 2023, with the song reaching number 5 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Another non-album single, "Artificial," was released that same summer and charted at number 31.
