Hanumankind

Indian-American rapper and lyricist Hanumankind, real name Sooraj Cherukat, was born in Kerala, India, grew up in the US and is known for his potent wordplay, socially conscious lyrics, and fusion of hip-hop with Indian cultural elements. His stage name, a play on the mythological figure Hanuman, reflects his connection to Indian culture while sending out a message of strength and resilience. Hanumankind's music delves into themes of identity, social justice, and the immigrant experience, often addressing issues like racism and self-discovery. He began his journey with the Kalari EP in 2019 and gained widespread recognition with tracks like "Kalari" and "Lotus." He went on to develop his voice further with releases such as "Beer and Biryani" (2021), created in collaboration with Parimal Shais, and 2023's "Go To Sleep" single, another link-up with Parimal Shais, establishing himself as a significant voice in the global hip-hop community, adept at bridging the gap between Eastern and Western influences. In 2024, he dropped a collaborative single with Indian producer Kalmi called "Big Dawgs." The track was a hit all over the world, taking up residency in both the UK and German Top 40 while reaching number 15 in Australia.
