Vicente García is a Dominican singer, songwriter, and composer known for blending traditional Dominican genres like bachata and merengue with modern styles such as reggae, funk, and electronic music. Born on March 30, 1983, in Santo Domingo, he began his career as the lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Calor Urbano before embarking on a solo journey in 2010. His debut solo album, Melodrama (2010), was followed by A La Mar (2016), which earned him the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist, among other accolades. He continued to innovate with Candela (2019), incorporating elements like trap and dub into Dominican rhythms. In 2023, his album Camino al Sol won the Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album. García has collaborated with artists such as Juan Luis Guerra, Alejandro Sanz, and Cultura Profética. He currently resides in Bogotá, Colombia, and continues to tour internationally.
