Gengahr is an English indie rock band formed in 2013 at Stoke Newington School in Hackney, London. Initially named RES, they changed their name to Gengahr after discovering another artist with the same name on iTunes; the new name is a play on words referencing the Pokémon character Gengar. Their breakthrough came when DJ Huw Stephens of BBC Radio 1 played their first single "Fill My Gums With Blood" (2014) on his radio show, leading to an invitation to perform at the Glastonbury Festival's Introducing stage in 2014. They released their debut album A Dream Outside (2015), which received positive reviews and a Metacritic score of 79 based on ten critiques. Their second album, Where Wildness Grows (2018), was followed by Sanctuary (2020) and Red Sun Titans (2023).
