Biography

Pop and R&B singer Marta Sánchez - born Marta Sánchez López in Madrid, Spain on May 8, 1966 - has sold more than 10 million albums. Born into a musical family – her father was an opera singer – she first came to prominence in 1985 when she joined established pop group Olé Olé. After several hit singles with the band – including “Lili Marlén” (1985), “Bailando sin salir de casa” (1986), “Secretos” (1988), and “Búscala” (1989) – she left the band in 1991 to pursue a solo career. Marta Sánchez released her debut solo album, Mujer (1993), which featured the massively successful singles "Desesperada" and "De Mujer a Mujer.” Her second solo album, Mi Mundo, was released in 1995 and included the single “Dime la Verdad.” Two years later, she issued her third album, Azabache (1997), which featured musical contributions from guitarist Slash and producer/musician Nile Rodgers. The album’s single "Moja Mi Corazón" rose to Number 1 in Spain and Mexico. Her international fame was bolstered by the single “Vivo Per Lei,” a collaboration with Andrea Bocelli. She issued the Number 2 charting album Desconocida in 1998, which was followed by more hit albums including Soy Yo (2002), the compilation Lo Mejor de Marta Sánchez (2004), the live album Gira 2005: La Coruña En Directo (2005), and Miss Sanchez (2007). In 2010, she released De Par en Par, a duets album that was only issued in Spain. Marta Sanchéz released several non-album singles - "Mi Cuerpo Pide Más" (2012) "Y, ¿Si Fuera Ella?" (2013) and "Get It Up” (2013) – before releasing 21 Dias (2015), her first album of new material in eight years.
