Big Shaq

Big Shaq is the wildly popular alter ego of the British comedian, actor, and rapper of Ghanaian descent, born Michael Dapaah on 10 August 1991 in Croydon, London. Rising to international fame with the viral 2017 hit "Man's Not Hot," Big Shaq blends deadpan delivery, street parody, and comedic bravado into a character that satirises grime and UK rap culture. The track, with its iconic "skrrra pap pap ka-ka-ka" ad-lib, became a global meme and charted in multiple countries, cementing Big Shaq as a breakout phenomenon. In August 2017, he appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Fire in the Booth with Charlie Sloth, where his freestyle—packed with absurd one-liners and the now-iconic sound effects (“skrrra pap pap ka-ka-ka”)—instantly went viral. The freestyle was later turned into the single "Man's Not Hot," which became a cultural phenomenon, charting in the UK Top 30 and entering charts around the world, including in the US, Canada, and Australia. Beyond the success of the single, he has racked up several other notable releases, including the "Buss It Down" and "Chicken Shop Freestyle" singles as Big Shaq, released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. In 2025, he teamed up with Badger and Dr Ofori for the "Yapa Yapa (Shut It Pls)" single.
