Actor Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day, the Fly) periodically worked his aptitude for piano-playing into his films, but it wasn’t until the 2010s -- at which point he’d become an enigmatic persona as much as a flesh-and-blood person -- that he began to show his musical side more fully. He formed the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra with John Mastro in the ‘90s, and performed around Los Angeles. Things got more serious in 2014 when the group booked a residency at the Carlyle Hotel in New York, and the consistency encouraged the outfit to record its first album, The Capitol Studio Sessions, in 2018. The album debuted at Number One on the jazz charts, and showed that music wasn’t just a winking lark for the often-inscrutable performer. I Shouldn't Be Telling You This followed the next year, which continued the group’s affinity for groovy, charming jazz, and featured appearances from Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten, and Miley Cyrus.
