Born August 10, 1964, R&B singer Aaron Hall survived a gritty childhood filled with violence. His big break came when Timmy Gatling, his co-worker at a shoe store, heard him singing and was impressed. They hooked up with producer Teddy Riley and formed the genre-defining new jack swing trio Guy. When the group disbanded, Hall launched his solo career with the 1992 single “The Truth”, a number 1 R&B hit that appeared both on his first album, also titled The Truth, as well as the soundtrack for the film Juice. Another single from the album, “I Miss You”, was a number 2 smash on the R&B chart and found crossover success on the pop chart climbing to number 14. Over the next few years he contributed work to a variety of soundtracks including Dangerous Minds, and featured on other artists’ records. His official sophomore solo outing, Inside of You, came out in 1998 and included “All the Places (I Will Kiss You)”, a top ten R&B and top 30 pop hit. After reuniting with Guy for one album, Hall issued Adults Only: The Final Album, which he declared would be his swansong to the recording business, in 2005.
