Born Thomas William Cochrane on 14 May 1953 in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Tom Cochrane is a distinguished, multi-Juno Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and musician who rose to fame in the 1980s as the frontman for Canadian rockers Red Rider. After joining the group in 1978, he spent the subsequent decade making a name for himself before commencing his solo career in 1991 with the release of "Life Is a Highway," mining a heartland rock-edged sound. The song reached the pinnacle of global fame, shooting to the top of the charts in multiple countries, while the album on which it was featured—his second solo album, Mad Mad World—picked up four Juno Awards, including Album of the Year and Single of the Year. He went on to release another four studio albums, including 1995's Juno Award-nominated Ragged Ass Road, 2006's No Stranger, and 2015's Take It Home. That same year, he received the Order Of Manitoba. A deluxe edition of Mad Mad World saw the light in 2016.
