Simon Goff

With a unique sonic language that synthesizes the worlds of classical chamber music with textural, modular electronics, contemporary ambient and cinematic producer Simon Goff stands out with his broad conceptual soundscapes and deeply evocative work. The classically trained British musician, now based in Berlin, has collaborated with the likes of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Tara Nome Doyle, and Hildur Guðnadóttir, as well as having a provided scores for BAFTA-nominated TV series’. With his third solo album released in September 2026, the accomplished violinist further strengthens his progressive orchestral sound, with an aesthetic rooted in contextual minimalism, parallel phasing, and pioneering, modular sound design, that transcends musical ideologies into reflective moments of atmospheric ambiance, rooted in the human experience.

Not many artists make the successful transition from scoring cinematic opuses to becoming successful music producers. With multiple collaborations and three successful album releases under his belt, it’s something Simon Goff takes in his stride. Originally from Yorkshire in the UK, Goff’s background in playing in orchestral ensembles and studying classical violin at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire helped set him up for a future in creating daring, avant-garde cinematic pieces that are sampled, looped, and repurposed as contemporary art. Having moved to Berlin in 2016, Goff began working with Grammy and Emmy-winning producer and sound engineer Francesco Donadello, with whom he collaborated on the Erased Tapes’ 1+1=X compilation, amongst other projects. He also worked with Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hildur Guðnadóttir on acclaimed projects Joker and Chornobyl, in addition to composing music for the BAFTA-nominated series The Gold, and the Oscar shortlisted Czech feature Waves (VLNY).

During this time, Goff was always plugging away at his solo work, building a studio filled with samplers and modular synthesizers, and exploring the dialogue between acoustic instrumentation and electronic manipulation. His debut LP Vale, was released in 2021 on 7k!, a post-minimalist record centred on his violin playing and using tape machines and pedals to create a dense, ever-shifting panorama of sound that received critical acclaim. From the outset, Goff’s vision of taking listeners inside the music, and having them experience it cognitively was becoming ever apparent. “I'm trying to take people to that experience I had where you are inside the music,” he explains about his process. In 2023, he released Spark Like Living Mothers, a record that originated from a piece he composed for a dance production. Again, the contemporary composer used looping effects to deconstruct has classical outlook by sampling the work of English Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis. The conceptual body of work centered around themes of radical shifts, rebirth, and transition, and pioneered new algorithmic technology to create abstract, dream-like poetry that featured throughout the record.

In September 2026, Goff releases his third LP Interior Realms - Vol.1 (Music for Listening Alone, Together),released on the label Sonic Pieces. Building a sonic, immersive experience that’s centered around ideological premises established by the early New York downtown avant-garde scene, and the likes of Steve Reich, and Terry Riley, Goff toys with phasing and loops, recording the album in several large structures from across the UK and in Berlin, making use of spatial, dynamic, and natural reverb. Using a binaural microphone, live orchestral musicians and modular synthesizers, the latest album uses space as an instrument and asks the listener to journey inside themself to realise the music. Expanding on his love for chamber music, the record interplays modular synthesizers and acoustic sounds and questions how music exists within our living environment. Goff’s work further connects the listener through music and begs further questions about our relationship with space and ourselves.
