Punk group Goldfinger formed in Los Angeles, California in 1994. Founded by vocalist and guitarist John Feldmann, drummer Darrin Pfeiffer, bassist Simon Williams, and lead guitarist Charlie Paulson, The members first connected while working day jobs: Feldmann and Williams famously met at a shoe store, where a demo linked them to the A&R team that would help launch their career. Goldfinger quickly established themselves through frenetic live performances, anthemic choruses, and an appealing blend of punk energy and ska rhythms. Goldfinger were originally part of the ska-punk revival and were one of the leaders of scene with the release of the Richter EP (1995) and the major label debut album Goldfinger (1996). Including singles like “Here in Your Bedroom,” the record became a cornerstone of the third‑wave ska movement and earned lasting recognition. Their next two albums - Hang-Ups (1997), and Stomping Ground (2000) – continued in the ska-punk vein but by the time Goldfinger released the album Open Your Eyes in 2002, they had shifted toward a more polished pop‑punk sound. Through lineup changes and musical transformations, Feldmann remained the group’s constant anchor, guiding the band’s songwriting and activism—particularly their outspoken support for animal rights. Goldfinger’s later albums - including Hello Destiny… (2008), The Knife (2017), and Never Look Back (2020) - reaffirmed their staying power. After a short recording break, Goldfinger returned in 2026 with the album Nine Lives, their first studio release in six years.
