Biography

Originally hailing from Leeds, Kaiser Chiefs formed under the name Runston Parva in 1996, then Parva in 2000, before adopting the name Kaiser Chiefs in 2003. Led by singer Ricky Wilson and guitarist Andrew White, supported by bassist Simon Rix, percussionist Nick Baines, and drummer Nick Hodgson, Kaiser Chiefs gained attention in 2004 when the concert anthem "I Predict a Riot" charted worldwide, landing at number 9 on the UK charts. A few months later, the album Employment (2005), produced by Stephen Street, was released to commercial and critical acclaim, reaching number 2 and earning three Brit Awards in 2006 including Best British Group. The quintet secured their place at the top of the charts in 2007 with the album Yours Truly, Angry Mob, accompanied by the massive success of hit single "Ruby." Maintaining their rapid and exhilarating tempo, Kaiser Chiefs solidified their position as leaders in the British music scene with "Off With Their Heads" (2008), reaching number 2, while its first single "Never Miss a Beat" went to number 5. Three years later, fan-favourite "The Future Is Medieval" (2011) climbed to number 10. Shortly after unveiling Souvenir: The Singles 2004-2012, the band welcomed Vijay Mistry who replaced Nick Hodgson, releasing fifth album Education, Education, Education & War in 2014, landing them once again in the Number 1 position. Defying predictions, the rock group ventured into dance territory with Stay Together (2016) and Duck (2019), reaching number 4 and 3 on the album charts, respectively. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the band collaborated with producers Nile Rodgers and Amir Amor on Kaiser Chiefs' Easy Eighth Album, preceded by lead single “Burning in Flames.”  The album was released on March 1, 2024.
