Lori E. Carson, born on March 2, 1958, in Queens, New York, is an American singer-songwriter known for her contributions to contemporary folk and alternative country music. She began performing in the mid-1980s at venues like Folk City and The Bitter End. In 1987, Carson signed a development deal with Manhattan Records, followed by a recording contract with Geffen Records in 1988. Her debut album Shelter, produced by Hal Willner and released in 1990, featured a duet with Gregg Allman. Carson toured extensively in support of the record, opening for Joe Jackson. After collaborating with The Golden Palominos in 1992, she signed with Restless Records and released Where It Goes in 1995. Other notable albums include Stars (1999), The Finest Thing (2004), and Sing to the Ghosts (2025). Carson's work has also been featured in several film soundtracks like Stealing Beauty (1996), Crazy/Beautiful (2001), and Pizza My Heart (2005).
