Ronny (* March 10, 1930 in Bremen; † August 18, 2011 in Bremen) is a pop singer, composer and producer from Germany. Born Wolfgang Roloff, the artist celebrated his greatest successes in the 1960s. From the late 1950s onwards, the trained sound engineer released songs under various stage names together with artist friends. The first single under the name Ronny, "Oh My Darling Caroline", was released in 1963. The singer immediately achieved a number 1 hit in Germany. Ronny achieved the same feat in 1964 with the single "Kleine Annabell". Ronny also reached top positions in the German album charts with the albums Oh My Darling Caroline (1964), Über Länder und Meere (1965) and Hohe Tannen (1967). In 1969, Ronny achieved another top 10 position with the single "Er war nur ein armer Zigeuner", which reached number 5. From the 1970s onwards, Ronny slowly withdrew from the show stage. In 1975, his last studio album, entitled Mit dem Wind muss ich weiterzieh'n, was released. At the beginning of the 1980s, Ronny returned with the album Stimme der Heimat. The artist made it to number 4 in the German album charts in 1981. in 1984, Ronny finally ended his career as a pop singer. His album Stimme des Meeres climbed to number 12 in the German album charts. After that, he composed songs for other artists and worked again as a sound engineer in his own recording studio, Studio Nord Bremen. Subsequently, compilations of Ronny's greatest hits are released again and again. The artist dies in 2011, but his music remains unforgotten. The best-of album Diamant is released in 2022. The longplayer makes it to number 32 in the German album charts.
