Biography

The daughters of a Marine Corps father, Ann and Nancy Wilson moved around throughout their childhood until Ann hooked up with Mike Fisher and when he moved to Canada to dodge the US draft to Vietnam she followed and joined his band Hocus Pocus. When Nancy also gravitated there, the sisters formed Heart, releasing debut album Dreamboat Annie in 1975, including hit singles Crazy On You and Magic Man. As the line-up changed the focus fell on the soaring vocals and power ballads of the Wilson sisters, resulting in hits such as Barracuda, Tell It Like It Is and Almost Paradise (an Ann Wilson duet with Mike Reno from the film Footloose). Heart's best years came after signing to Capitol in the mid-1980s, with the self-titled Heart album selling over five million, including hit singles What About Love, Never and These Dreams. Another epic power ballad Alone topped the charts in 1987 and, despite image problems over her weight, Ann had further hits with Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and Alice In Chains, forming her own band as Nancy concentrated on bringing up a family after marrying writer Cameron Crowe. The sisters resurrected Heart in 2002 and were back again with a new album Red Velvet Car in 2010.
