Tori Kelly is an American R&B-pop singer who first garnered attention as a youngster on American television talent shows such as Star Search, America's Most Talented Kids, and, briefly, American Idol. Born Victoria Loren Kelly on December 14, 1992, in Wildomar, California, she released an EP titled Handmade Songs in 2012 and one in 2013 titled Foreword, which reached number 16 on the Billboard 200. She performed as a supporting act with artists including Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, made television appearances, and played various festivals including Christian events. In 2014, she featured on Professor Green's "Lullabye," which peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. Her 2015 album, Unbreakable Smile, went to number 2 on the Billboard 200 and she was nominated that year as Best New Artist in the Grammy Awards. She featured on Chris Lane's "Take Back Home Girl," which went to number 12 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart in 2018 and, later that year, her album Hiding Place hit number 35 on the Billboard 200. In 2019, Hiding Place was named Best Gospel Album at the 61st Grammy Awards while "Never Alone" won Best Gospel Performance/Song. She followed this success with the coming-of-age full-length album Inspired by True Events (2019), the EP Solitude (2020), and the holiday LP A Tori Kelly Christmas (2020), produced by Kenneth "Babyface" Edwards. After performing alongside Andrea Bocelli on his 2023 music special The Journey: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli, Tori Kelly landed a deal with Epic Records and released the single "Missin U," inspired by late 1990s/early 2000s R&B. The track would end up being the first single from her fifth studio effort, Tori., released in 2024.
