Born September 9, 1982, in London, England, Jonathan Jeremiah is a singer, songwriter, and musician born to an Anglo-Indian father and Irish mother. Influenced by pop and soul music as well as folk music artists such as John Martyn, Serge Gainsbourg, and Scott Walker, he began performing at the age of 14. He took a road trip across the US and began writing his own songs. His trek took him to New York, where he managed to land a job playing piano in a bar. Inspired by his American journey, he returned to England and focused on a career in the music business. He signed with Island Records and released his first EP, What's a Guy Got to Do? in 2009 and went on to tour and collaborate with artists such as The Pierces and Airplane. His 2011 debut album, A Solitary Man, found him embracing his folk music roots and featured musical assistance from the Roots’ Questlove and former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. The album reached Number 3 in the Netherlands and Number 11 in Germany and Belgium. In 2012, he released the album Gold Dust, which was recorded with the Metropol Orkest. The album reached Number 12 in Germany and squeaked into the Top 50 in Belgium. The album was followed by Oh Desire (2015) and Good Day (2018), both of which revealed his eclectic musical talents, In 2022, Jonathan Jeremiah released his fifth album, Horsepower for the Streets, which featured musical assistance from the Amsterdam Sinfonietta.
