Boasting a unique style that seamlessly blends late 90s and early 2000s R&B with a state-of-the-art trap aesthetic, Joann Marie Slater (born on November 20, 1995), better known as Ann Marie, is an American singer and rapper who gained notoriety back in 2014 through her YouTube channel. The singer’s videos soon amassed millions of views and helped her build a strong social media presence. Propelled by the success of the singles “Tell Me Lies,” “In My Feelings,” and “Different,” the Chicago native released her studio full-length debut in 2017, quickly followed by the EP Unfuckwitable (2017). In 2018, her hit single “Secret,” featuring YK Osiris, peaked at Number 22 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart and the EP Tripolar saw the light of day. Following the release of the sequel Tripolar 2 (2019), she made her Interscope Records debut with the EP Pretty Psycho (2019), which featured guest appearances by rappers Jeremih (“Drip”), Calboy (“Property”), and Q Money (“In A Minute”). Slater’s star continued to rise in 2020 with the singles “Mind Games” and “Stress Relief,” a collaboration with MC G Herbo.
