For Real is an American R&B and soul quartet formed in 1990 in Los Angeles. The group, consisting of Josina Elder-Epps, Latanyia Baldwin, Wendi Williams, and Necia Bray-Gates, secured their recording contract by accident when they performed an a cappella song at the airport to greet their manager, who was accompanied by an A&M Records representative. For Real released their debut album, It's a Natural Thang, in March 1994 on A&M Records. The album included the singles "You Don't Wanna Miss", which peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and "Easy to Love" which reached number 65 on the same chart. Their third single, "You Don't Know Nothin'", peaked at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 54 in the UK Singles Chart. The album sold over one million copies worldwide and peaked at number 80 on the Billboard 200. In 1996, For Real signed with Rowdy Records and released their second album, Free. Notable singles from this album included "Like I Do" and "The Saddest Song I Ever Heard". The group also contributed to various film soundtracks, including Grace of My Heart, for which they won a Satellite Award in 1997. They were nominated for a Billboard Music Award and a Soul Train Music Award during their career.
