Westside Connection, an American musical group from Los Angeles, California, was formed in 1996 by Ice Cube, WC, and Mack 10. The trio emerged during the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry following Tupac Shakur's death. Their debut album, Bow Down, released on October 22, 1996, via Priority Records, reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B Albums chart. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA in 1996, with notable singles including "Gangstas Make The World Go Round" and "Bow Down". Bow Down also featured the track "King of the Hill", which addressed tensions within the hip-hop community. The group's second album, Terrorist Threats, released on December 9, 2003, featured the single "Gangsta Nation" with Nate Dogg. It peaked at number 3 on the R&B Albums chart and number 16 on the Billboard 200. In 2005, internal disputes led to Mack 10's departure from the group, resulting in their eventual disbandment. Despite their short lifespan, Westside Connection left a lasting impact on West Coast rap.
