Biography

The Jamaican reggae artist Sean Paul began his career as a small time artist in Kingston until in 2004 he released the album 'Dutty Rock' which spawned the singles 'Gimme the Light' and 'Get Busy', the latter track making it to the top of the Billboard charts. The album sold six million copies and won him a Grammy Award in 2004. This coincided with him performing on Beyoncé's single 'Baby Boy' which reached number one in the US charts and Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe' which became a hit in Europe. The resulting publicity launched Paul's career across the globe and his third album 'The Trinity', released in 2005 spawned no less than five hit singles and won numerous music industry accolades and awards.

Sean Paul has gone on to become one of the most respected reggae artists in the world and has collaborated with numerous high profile artist including Shaggy, The Saturdays and Pharrell Williams. He cites reggae legend Toots Hibbert from Toots and the Maytals as being a major influence during the early days of his career. In more recent times he featured on the single 'Rockabye' by the English group Clean Bandit; the single spent nine consecutive weeks at number one in the UK Singles Chart.
